Urbanathlon done. Now what’s next?

Yesterday I finished my very first Urbanathlon. The last moment they changed the parcours due to safety issues and all that crap. So, we had to run 3 rounds and doing the same obstacles all over again total k’s:13. Everybody was dissapointed and even some runners didn’t want to compete at all.

But I have been training my butt off for months, so I had to do it!

First round was the toughest. I couldn’t find my running flow. I am not a fast running and being passed by everyone is not good for my self confidence. Besides that my started to hurt a little in the same round and I never thought I could run another more two rounds. But eh, if I don’t die and don’t have to cry, all is still good.

There was an obstacle made of road blocks those white/red ones. I just could jump right over them! Like in the hurdle races. I never practised it, but I felt like an antilope flying over those road blocks.

The sea freight containers were also piece of cake. Lot of girls were struggling here, but I’ve been training for this, so I could do it quite easily.

During the third round my knee really really started to hurt. I knew this would happen. But still it hurt like hell. Even though I started in the last wave and not being a fast runner, I wasn’t nearly last to finish! Yay!

Now what’s next? First my knee needs to recover. But for next year sigh me up for Tough Mudder and the Strongmanrun! I love this!

My own Olympic Games

Working my butt of for months on end. Discipline, (most) clean eating, no drinking, enough bed rest. Finally tomorrow: my very very first Urbanathlon (and first obstacle race). It’s a 14,5k parcours with 25 obstacles like carge nets, climbing sea freight containers, tires and much much more.

Since a couple of days I’m getting really nervous, cos there’s one itch: my knee. I still struggling with a runnersknee. It is one of the most annoying running injuries you can get! It sucks big time! Besides that some doubts, can I really pull this off? Did I train hard enough. For me it feels like I’m participating in the Olympic Games. I want that medal!

Two weeks ago I did a 12k run and it hurt pretty bad. Most weird of it all, I can do Insanity workouts, weigh training, nothing wrong with my knee. But the running movement is a killer.

So, I’m a little afraid I might not finish because of my knee. But I worked so fucking hard for this, I want to finish more than anything!

Wish me luck for tomorrow!

Sunday workout adventure

Today I supposed to a looooong run, the last one before my very first Urbanahtlon next Sunday. So I went running, it was really hot, about 27 degrees Celsius. But it was okay, I had the right spirit. Awesome, maybe I could finish this run with great results.

OUCH! Wtf? I felt a big sting in my chest. I looked down and there was a bee or a wasp ( it was black/yellow and very nasty) dangling on my chest. I hardly could get it off me. The sting was still on him and in me.

I never got stung by such an animal, almost freaked out. I didn’t even know if I was allergic and there I was running on my own. So I walked back in a very bad mood and with a little pain.

It kinda hurt throughout the day, but I felt bad my long run failed miserably. So I did the Insanity Max Interval Sports Training. Made me sweat like a pig.

Not the workout I had planned, but sometimes it just goes the way it goes.

Sunday workout: mini Urbanathlon preparation

Sunday morning is my most favourite time to go out for a run! So I decided to do that. I did a run with a lot of stairs in various ways, pull ups, push ups and dips. I discovered a route to our local soccer stadium, wich has a lot of fun obstacles and it’s not far from my house! Perfect!

After 3K my knee started to hurt again, so I decided to stop. If I pull through it only gets worse. My back legs are still so sore! Ai ai ai!

I’m content with my power and strength, but my endurance needs a big boost and so does my knee. Knee, please get well soon!
